Cape Dory 19 Restoration - Materials List

Post by Vcoast »

I've got a little deck re-coring project, and paint job cued up for this winter. I'll welcome any leads for sourcing materials. Balsa Core
Fiberglass, etc....

A board member recently sent me a link to the Miranda TY restoration. If that person is a member, I'd like to know who fabricated your Stl. Stl Compression post?

Please send along any tips, tricks, or, the infamous, 'be sure to watch out for's.

First order of business is to build an enclosure around the boat. One that can withstand a NE winter. Anyone have any photos or recommendations?

Thanks

shelter

I elected to buy a carport for my restoration shelter. For your boat, a standard sized one for a car might work, and you could then sell it after you were finished with it if you wished:

Defender http://www.defender.com might be a good place to buy supplies.

I used Defender as well. I live near them (Waterford Ct.) If you get a chance go to their outlet store. They stocked balsa core as well as the foam kind I think. I've been using MAS epoxy, and have been very happy with the results. By far the best prices around.
