I had a very happy first season of ownership of my CD25...
Its time now to do more upgrading. The boat still has its original 1978 wiring and is in bad need of replacement. I would like to add a master battery switch, install a new breaker pannel (not fuses), and rewire any fixtures that I can fish... Does anyone here have experience with this stuff on a CD25??? Any thoughts would be great...
Thanks

Suggestions for rewiring a CD25

Re: Suggestions for rewiring a CD25
Doug, I've done quite a bit of rewiring on my 78 CD25. I found the factory wiring to be in great shape and of good quality. What was in most need of changing was the organization of the fuse panel. I have added a battery switch and also redone all the running lights. I added a tri color, anchor light at the masthead and installed a new deck light/steaming light unit. I also put a bicolor running light on the pulpit (like the big guys use) and a new stern light on the pushpit. The biggest job was the fuse panel. I didn't feel the need to go to breakers as the fuses have performed just fine. But it looked like snakes mating in there. I now have a very organized and easy to work on panel. I did make some of the switches two position. This not only gains room but prevents some mistakes. For instance one double throw switch controls the running lights and the tri-color. That way you can't accidently have them on at the same time. I have some photos of the work, if you want to see them drop me a note with a snail mail address and I'll send them to you. I can also give you part numbers of some of the items I used if that helps. Good luck. Jerry
