Anyone ever pulled the engine (md7a) out of a cape dory28 sail boat ? or how hard is it to clean a gold fish? would like to know how much trouble Im getting into. slipmates say they will sell tickets to the event. Is it really that bad? ---- Kev & Laura, sv/LAURA/ex- bluebird/

Actualy it's not a bad job, but I am a mechanic. Just make sure that
everything is disconnected and tied out of the way.The engine is not very heavy and can be levered up onto a 2x4 ladder frame that is slid under the motor mounts and extends into the salon. I was able to slide it out by hand from there. Once your in the cabin you can use a come-a-long to lift the motor out of the boat. It helps to remove the flywheel and the transmission to allow the engine to clear the hatch opening.Use three 4x4s to build a gantry over the hatch, the boom might hold but I wouldn't trust it.
