Just returned from SailExpo - Atlantic City
My husband and I just returned from SailExpo where we met and had lunch with Dan VanWinkle, his wife, and Bob Luby. (Sorry, Gil, that we didn't get to meet you. We were all at the Coast Guard Aux. Booth at noon and waited for awhile then went on without you -- maybe next time.) It was nice to meet other Cape Dorians and contributors to this board.
FYI, I purchased a new dodger from Island Nautical -- $740. I thought that was a pretty good deal.

Catherine: Just read your posting that you purchased a dodger from Island Nautical for your CD-32. I have a CD-33 (1981) and would like to add a dodger. Would I be able to order one from them from here in Miami FL? Would they know measurements, etc. and would they be able to ship it to me already made and ready to be installed? Any info will be appreciated.

Sorry we missed you!
Ronnie and I came down from Maine and attended on Friday.
Would have enjoyed meeting all of you. We are refitting a '77 CD 28
we just got, and got a great deal on some electronics. Some of the
venders will work hard to make a sale, (and we love to "horse trade"
downeast.) Had a great time. Hats off to M&E and Boaters World.

This is the same address as Hild Sails.
They have alot of experience, and probably already have the measurements, so it wouldn't hurt to give them a call.
Best Wishes!

Is that price just for new cloth or cloth and hardware both?

Re: Just returned from SailExpo - Atlantic City
Hi Gang,
We too, enjoyed our brief get-together at sail expo. Stayed down overnight Saturday and bought a dodger for my 25D on Sunday. Got it from Island Nautical also. Cost of dodger w/stainless frame, mail order (i.e. I install) was $845. I went with them because they did have a pattern for a 25D. They do require additional measurements to check against their pattern, however. One problem for me is they want the distance from cockpit sole to boom with sail raised. Ofcourse, "Bali Ha'i is on the hard with the mast as a ridge pole. Hate to wait till April or May to get measurements to them, so will see what I can work out. Take care. dvw

Re: Just returned from SailExpo - Atlantic City
Thanks on the info on Island Nautical. They do have the original drawing for the 33 CD and I was delighted. Just ordered mine. Finally Bandolera will have a much needed dodger! And I got a good discount from them because this is their slow time of the year!

Re: Just returned from SailExpo - Atlantic City
I, too, went to the SailExpo on Saturday but arrived too late to make the CD Rendezvous. This show relieved the bitter disappointment I had attending the NYC Int'l Boat Show (another story).
My CD27 has an original (1980) IN Dodger that is still going strong. I highly recommend their stuff. Last year I brought it back to IN for some repairs and upgrades. My kids grabbed the dodger in one spot over and over while going fore and aft and ripped out the 20 year old stitching in one area. Had the entire thing resewn. Also replaced all the windows, and the naugahyde strip on the top, all for $150. Now it's as good as new!!!
I loaded up on my refit list at the Expo. New Halyard winches were high on the list (see older postings--the plastic bases cracked on the old Lewmar 6's). Purchased two Harken Chrome B8C's for an absurdly low price of $140 ea at the Sailnet.com booth. Also stopped by the Garhauer booth. I met Bill Felgenhauer who told me he makes all the products himself! Very nice stuff! I bought two Genoa lead cars for an absurd $50 each, as well as a rigid vang.
Now the bank account is smaller and the Spring chore list bigger! Hope for an early Spring!!

New dodger -- exact replacement
Bill,
Our present dodger is also an Island Nautical dodger and the new one will be an exact replacement. I will be sending them my old dodger and awning so that everything will match up exactly. We'll be using our old aluminum frame, so the price is just for the "canvas".
