St. Pierre Dory
John Gardner has written extensively about the St. Pierre dory. They are mentioned in most of his books. He also authored a book exclusively about the dory. You can find it for sale thru Wooden Boat. They are online and easy to find.
I don't know anything about the boat your are considering, but if it is a true "dory", it is NOTHING at all like a Cape Dory. A "dory" is a flat bottomed craft, quite unlike our full keeled Cape Dorys. If the boat you are looking at is wooden, you might want to post an inquiry on the forum at the Wooden Boat site. Those guys are full of opinions!

Re: 28ft saint pierre dory
Whether you buy it or not, you would enjoy "The Thousand Dollar Yacht" by Anthony Bailey, published in paperback by International Marine Publishing Co. It is a great story of a fellow who built a Cape Pierre dory, fixed it up and went cruising on Long Island Sound.
