I am looking to buy a 1984 24' CD Trawler which is currently powered by a Westerbeke Diesel (30HP). Boat cruises at 6.25k @1800rpm. Does anyone know whether this boat could be repowered with a larger diesel or gas engine? If so what make and HP? The problem appears to be whether a larger engine would fit.
I would appreciate any comments, suggestions regarding the engine and/or the boat itself.

My understanding is that a yanmar 150 would fit, but the displacement hull and the 5200 lb wt. would make it a chancy retrofit. The Fortier 26,osprey 26,Aprea Mare 25, Wasque 26 or the look-a-like Acadia 25 with a yanmar 170, might be boats to look at. I have a 24"Trawler", that I am attached to, but my wife is not, No Storage Room! Of course neither did my 30 ft pearson coaster. It could be mine, your looking at, one of only 17 madeI am looking to buy a 1984 24' CD Trawler which is currently powered by a Westerbeke Diesel (30HP). Boat cruises at 6.25k @1800rpm. I really don't know about what would replace the 30hp Westerbeke. I have one of these CD 24'trawlers with that engine in it. The space in the engine compartment is pretty tight so I don't you could go much bigger in size, but maybe they are packing more hp in the same size engine. Actually, mine likely needs some major engine work--if not a new engine. Although I love the boat, as I find myself doing less and less boating, perhaps I should think about selling it with the understanding that the new owner repowers it. My CD 24 trawler is in Florida on the Atlantic side ICW, between St. Augustine and Daytona. I'd appreciate any info on what you are thinking of as repowering, however.
