I am refitting my old Typhoon this winter and have a soft cockpit floor that needs replacing. Has anyone out there done this? I also need to build a support below the mast and could use some tips on this also.
I bought my weekender Typhoon in 1988 with a replacment mast support already in place. They had used a stainless 1 1/2" threaded pipe setup with stainless plates on either end. This was placed direcly under the mast step and screwed up into place. Yes, it did take up the center of the cabin. It works well: no problems after 11 more seasons.

The U.T. Sailing Club's Typhoon had a soft cockpit sole and foredeck. the core had become delaminated but was not rotted or wet. I followed the steps in West Systems Fiberglass Repair Manual and have had exellent results. It was fairly easy to do.
