It's official. She floats again. Club shake down cruise tomorrow. We look good. It helps to start with a beautiful boat.

I'm sure the shakedown cruise will be a great sail with no surprises. I'm about 2-3 weeks away from launch so I'm very envious of you!!

Have a great sail tomorrow if the weather permits!!

good luck

Post by drysuit2 »

good luck on your shake down. Had mine last week. I was amazed by how many lines were kinked after just two months on the hard. Plus I had set up my out haul wrong. glad I had the shake down before public viewing. My sailing was not pretty.

Hope yours goes better.

Mitch,
It sounds like you must have decided to postpone the "modifications" to your boat that you proposed "sometime around April 1st."

She's in the water and ready to go. Checked out all systems yesterday and spent the night on the boat, shake down cruise should be next weekend. After a long winter, we're looking forward to a great sailing season renewing old friendships and making new.

Dave,
The shake down cruise was about perfect. So I think those improvements may have to wait. :)

Glad you are Ready to go Sailing

Ok, since all went so well, I can assume we will see Respite on the Chesapeake Fleet spring cruise. I think after all you have undertaken in these last few months you could use a little "Respite".

So, is it just you and the lobstermen out there? :-)

Hope to see you guys sometime this season. We launch in 3 weeks.

Sprite launched too

Post by jbenagh »

We launched Sprite (formerly Carl Thunberg's Concord Coach) today and took an abbreviated cruise so my brother could make his early evening appointment. Beautiful weather and lots of compliments from the yard guys on her good looks. I told them the former owner took really nice care of her.

Thanks for all the advice and encouragement -- it's nice to sail with you.

Jeff

Nice to see Sprite getting launched

Post by Carl Thunberg »

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the kind words. One of my proudest moments ever was when a lobsterman circled my boat three times. At first, I had no idea what he was doing. Then he shook his head, gave me a thumbs up and roared off!

I know she's in great hands and from this point forward, you get all the credit for keeping her in great shape. Hopefully you can take some time off and sail her down to the Rendezvous this summer. Sail her hard. She can take it.
