Teak & Holly sole
I have a 28 flybridge, I would like to know if the Teak & Holly sole is veneer or solid wood

Yes unfortunately all cape dorys used thin veneer for the cabin sole. The bulkheads and such I dont mind this, but the cabin sole which gets so much wear it is very unfortunate. Refinishing is almost impossible since you cannot sand it at all, and dings you get from dropped items are permanent, and of course the worse of all is how easily it delaminates.
A long term project of mine is replacing it. I plan to remove the whole sole, put down marine plywood, then put at least 1/4" thick strips of teak/holly down on top of that. Its going to be spendy, but I think a very worthwhile upgrade.
