Joust bought a CD !!

Post by Maine Sail »

Hi All,

I just bought a Cape Dory 7 1/2 foot long sailing dinghy. It needs some work, a new sail and a centerboard but it's a neat little sailing dinghy.

I wanted to let the site administrators know that the 7 1/2 foot "dink" came as both a sailing dinghy and a rowing only. Also mine is hull #71 and the site says they only made 45 of the 7 1/2 footers.

She looks a lot like a Dyer dink, with hard chines, but is clearly a Cape Dory. I have no idea how old it is but the spar is wood so it must be fairly old!!

I'll try and get a picture up later...

Your CS 36T is certainly a gem. Congratulations on becoming a CD owner. Does the 7 1/2 have any seacocks to maintain? :D

Congrats Maine. I discovered that my centerboard is in the dinghy, under a tarp, under 3 ft. of snow. I will try and dig it out this weekend so you can see if it fits your new dink.

I was reading my new book, Heart of Glass, and it mentions that CD was started in '62.
