Cape Dory 25D - Cabin Table

Post by Mike Nesja »

We are in the process of purchasing a 1982 CD25D.
We understand that the standard CD25D cabin layout does not provide for a dining/work table. The mast compression post looks like a possible spot to hang a removable table similar to those found on some of the smaller Catalinas. Does anyone have any experience with building, buying, or adapting a cabin table for a CD25D?
Thanks!

Mike,
The 84 cd25d's have the dining table stored on the overhead of the qtr. berth. It attaches to a support leg, usually stored in the stbd. locker, which fits into a recessed opening in the cabin sole, just aft of the compression post. I thought all the designs were similar.

I have a 1982 CD25D with the same dining table arrangement as described by Brian. It works very well.

>>Brian,
You (and two other owners who seconded your response) are most probably right. I have only spent about 10 minutes in the cabin of the boat we are buying and (well, the boom was in the way) didn't notice anything that LOOKED like a table, but I didn't think to ask the broker. I hadn't noticed a table set up in any of the CD25D photos on the WWW, nor does it appear in the floor plan or narrative in Practical Sailor.
Anyway --- it's good news to(probably) have a table, and thanks to all of you for responding so quickly!
