First real sail on my CD30K Arianna

Post by seadog6532 »

After almost two months of working on my new to me CD30K Arianna here in sunny Mobile Alabama I finally got in my first real sail. "No wind on the day of the sea trial"

I've cleaned and painted the motor, repaired plumbing and wiring problems, repaired/overhauled the cooling system on the engine, serviced all the winches, removed the old depth and speed instruments and replaced with new including building a water box for the new depth transducer, cleaned and oiled all interior teak, removed everything from the boat and cleaned all lockers and storage spaces, and moved everything back on board. I still need to do the exterior bright work.

When I woke up this morning I asked myself if I was just trying to get the boat back into good shape or was I making excuses for not taking the boat out. It's been a long time since I have sailed... Not to mention I have a $700,000.00 boat next to me I can scratch if I'm not careful. It was a nice day with not to much wind and a great day to get back into the groove. The bottom is still not as clean as it should be but I still sailed half the wind speed... That's good enough for me on any boat. And I guess I still remember how to sail after all. 73F and around 8kts of breeze... guess this is why I live down south.

Mark,

Nice work, man. Untying from the dock can be a mental challenge, even when it is nice out. Glad you took her out.

Keep untying!

:D
Mark, I could not have found a better owner for Arianna if I had paid for one. You have done all the maintance and repairs that my age and distance have cuased me to neglect. You are a sailor and not another "condo" owner with sails.
She sails sweet and easy. Enjoy her as I did
