I'm installing jiffy reefing on my Typhoon Weekender, and I'd appreciate some advice. Where to install the tack hook? Bolt it directly to the gooseneck, or just further aft on the boom? If I screw it to the boom, must the holes be tapped? Any other tips on mounting hardware to the boom?
The boat is a joy to sail in a breeze reefed down, but tying in the reefs manually is a real chore.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Re: A few questions on Typhoon Jiffy Reefing
Mike,
We faced the same problem. There just wasn't any place to put a tack hook that didn't get in the way of something else. We solved it by using the Cunningham.
Our feeling is that you should tap holes and use machine thread screws since that gives more metal to metal contact than self taping threads. This is only for fasteners that are holding something that is trying to shear the screw, not pull it straight out which would require some other type of attachment method.
