I was wondering if anyone has any experience or outfitted their Cape Dory with an LED lighting system. I was looking to use a solar charged/deep cell battery system for the cabin light and running lights? Do LED's have enough illumination for running lights? Also does anyone have any recommendations for through-hull electrical connections, types and placement? Any feedback appreciated.

Re: LED Electrical system for Typhoon
Tom,
My brother has typhoon #911. When purchased it already had an electrical system aboard. He upgraded it to a dual battery, deph sounder/speed log luxury including an LED anchor light. He used two Radio Shack LED's and mounted them in the existing light. I do not know if they reach the required 2 mile range but it does quite well and uses about 60% less amp hours. Try him at "johndanicic@uswest.net". I am sure he would enjoy sharing his knowledge. Best of luck,
