Can a depth sounder be installed on a TYS without going through the hull? If so, what brand? -How? - And does it work well?

Sure, I have done it on a number of boats. I used a Hummingbird [$99] model] with good results as a temperary fix, and it worked fine. One is still going after five years. Just find a spot where the bottom is not a composite, but solid layup, for best results. You can test by putting the transducer in a plastic bag of water and moving it about the hull. For a permanent fix, glue the puck down with epoxy or silicone. Ron Brassord LHP FLCan a depth sounder be installed on a TYS without going through the hull?
