CD 27 Owner's Manual and Information

Post by Jarvis J.Hebert »

I just bought a 1979 CD27(Hull # 149) and I feel like a proud new parent. I am curious however, about the availability of an owner's manual. I would cherish a photo copy of one. Also, does anyone know how much a 27 originally cost in 1979? Any information would be genuinely appreciated. In the meantime, I stand proud and loving my new Cape Dory in Louisiana.

Jarvis:

Send an e-mail with your s-mail address and I will send a copy of my '77-78 vintage manual. We just purchased Remedy, our CD 27 (hull #37) this summer. Somewhere, I have the original paperwork, and I may be able to determine the purchase price in 1977.

I also have an owner's manual and a service manual for the Yanmar 8hp diesel. Let me know if you need those, too, and I'll work on it.

Jarvis:
As the third owner of a 1981 CD 27, I don't know what one sold for new, but in looking at a copy of the original owner's Certificate of Documentation I notice that a mortgage issued in 1981 and maturing in 1996 for this boat amounted to a staggering $83,600! I assume they sold for appreciably less than that figure.
As for technical literature, in addition to owner's manual and Yanmar service manual, I also have a Yanmar parts manual for the YSM8. Please contact me by e-mail if I can be of assistance.

I am a third owner of an 81 CD27. I found in the ship's papers a sheet
from the marina that sold the boat with the figure of $36,900. Either
this is the original price in 81, or the price the second owner
paid in 83. The boat was standard rig (3 foresails, main, no
spinnaker). The boat was sold with depth, knot, compass, autohelm, radio.

Hope that helps.

(I have the 81 owners manual...write if you need anything).
