sails

Post by jokemo »

I'm in the process of buying a new genoa and learning lots about fabrics and design. Too much, actually. Would one of you just tell me, a cruising guy who will not be out in anything over 20 knots, which sailmaker to go to. I know that keeping your sail shape is a big deal, but realistically, how big a deal is it? Can I get by with Lee or will I regret not having spent 2x as much and getting North, Hood, Doyle etc.? What are your thoughts. Thanks. John

North, Hood, and Doyle are all very good....
However I have never heard of anyone having a problem with Lee sails or giving anything less than glowing reviews of them.
(having said that I have never used Lee sails so I cant tell you from personal experience)
Calvert is also an excellent sail maker, I had some on my Com-Pac 16 and they were near indestructible and were perfectly shaped.

Cheers.
