fuel usage

I am trying to figure my normal fuel usage for a cd30b with a Universal M18 engine.
I am trying to work out range for a 20gal tank. Could others let me know what theirs is??

MD7A about 1/3 gal per hour.....or there abouts.....
yours maybe 1/2 gal per hour.....

A good rule of thumb is 1 gph/18hp which has proved quite accurate over a wide range of diesels, even the really big ones.

For example, if you have a 20hp engine (full load, peak rpm) but at cruising speed throttle back and are using 12hp, you would expect to burn 0.67 gph.

I run my MD7B (17hp) at roughly 1/2 speed (redline is 3200rpm, I run at 1800) for cruising and burn between 1/3 and 1/2 gph which agrees pretty well.
