CD 30 engine replacements

Post by WalterF »

I should be grateful for suggestions of engines (perhaps another Volvo), and costs, for replacing my Volvo MD7A on my 1980 CD30 Cutter.

yanmar

Post by chase »

P.O. put a Yanmar 2GM20 in Anne Freeman. Works great.

I think he was out $8000+ after new exhaust, mounts, prop and shaft, etc. That's per the boatyard, not him. I don't think they ever forget nasty V-drive jobs. It's tight in there.

Good Luck,

Chase

Engines

Do a search and you will find lots of info. on re-powers.

I replaced my volvo with the Beta BD-722 with a hurth v-drive.
replacing the v-drive will always be more money than the standard transmission

I'm also the Oregon Dealer for Beta and am giving 15% off to all board members.
With the Kubota block, parts are readily available world wide.
I have the measurements for new stringers that adapt the Beta to the existing beds of the Volvo making the change very easy.
Send me a PM if you would like more info.
Best regards, Ben
