Hello Wayne:
Thank you very much for the information. I talked with Jim Avery this morning. He was very kind and patient.
If I am able to come to an agreed price (this is a big "if"), I will definitely hire him for the survey. Interestingly, he advised he was a Cape Dory dealer in NW Florida in the late 1970s and is very familiar with CD systems, construction, etc.
Joe, I went to the BoatUS website. Fortunately, Jim Avery is listed with (by) them so it should work out well.
I will initially try to get insurance with the insurance company I have used for my home and truck for the past 28 years as I am hopeful they will give me a discount for being a "loyal" policy holder.
I still have significant issues with dock space. Even temporary dock space (month to month) in South Florida is at a premium and the costs are up to about $560 - $600 a month, most with no water and no electric.

I am reluctant to go the "mooring" route as the sailing club that has the mooring field is being assailed by the City of Miami redevelopment agency that wants to convert the club land and mooring field into a walkway, park, etc. and eliminate the mooring field. Paying $1,000 now just to join the club seems like a poor investment.
On the up side, one of the CDSOA members in South Florida has been very, very helpful and encouraging and has made several excellent suggestions and recommendations.
Fair winds,
