CD models using outboard auxiliary and autopilot

Post by Daniel J. Kehoe »

Do any Cape Dory models larger than the 25 use the lazarette style outboard auxiliary?
Can they easily be fitted with a porta potty in place of a marine head?
Can they be trailered?
Who builds their trailer if bought without?
Please share experience with late model Navico or Autohelm autopilot.

Yes, the Cape Dory 26 uses the lazarette style outboard engine well. The boat is 25' 11" LOD, about 27' 11" LOA, 8' beam. The boat is very similiar to the CD25D but with a different interior layout and the diesel engine was optional. Also, many of the CD26s were fitted with a porta potty and not a head.

You can check with the folks on this site about trailering since the boat is very similiar to the CD25D and I believe a number of folks on this site trailer their CD25Ds.

Take a look at the CD26 web site..... http://members.aol.com/darenius/CapeDory/CD26.html

This site has recent pictures of my 1985 CD26 with the enquipment you describe.
