Another PT / sailing experience

Post by s.v. LaVida »

I echo the PT point.

Last Nov. I double fractured my ankle, requiring almost 7 weeks of bed rest and another 8 weeks of casts, crutches, cam walkers and canes, then in late Feb. I had to have left shoulder surgery. I'm still doing PT for both injuries.

Physical Therapy has been a lifeline to getting my health and mobility back and has given me the spark to renew a daily vigorous activity plan.

In additionk, outside of my PT visits (hard to do when your sailing in the middle of Lake Ontario), my PT gave me some elastic bands and excersises that I can do on the boat to continue my PT and condition my body on the days I'm not in her office.

I have also been a long been a proponent of the physical benefits from just standing on a deck. Always moving, the deck provides a constant excersise for your core muscle groups.

One has to be as physically fit as one can be to sail. I think its a great testament to all the ole salties (OJ your included in this) who are still sailing into their 80's and well beyond.

I think an addiction to sailing is perhaps the best fountain of youth there is and I'm looking forward to popping a cork on my 100th at anchor somewhere, enjoying a well deserved sundowner.

Hey, O.J.

It is something in the water. It's called ice. After years of research I've concluded that it's ice that gives you a hangover.

Rit,

Have you noticed that after your fractures, you can forecast the weather better than the TV weather gal?

But she's way better looking.

SO IT'S THE ICE?

Andy,

After all these years, I've been blaming it on the ginger beer.

One never knows,

Funny OJ,

I just popped in to check my email and have a GB and a dab of Capt. Morgan's Private Stock  .

Yes forecasting is a really bone art. Only finely altered bones can really do justice to true forecasting.

It's not the ice

It's not the ice. It's the litttle air bubbles that get trapped inside the ice.

No, it is the water

Water in any form. Look at all the time, labor and expense to get the stuff out, and then you casually put it back. The same applies to other pollutants.
