Torque curve
A lot of diesel engines have their maximum torque at much less than their maximum rpm. IMO I'd check the torque/rpm curve for the engine in question from the manufacturer and see where you attain the max. torque. Anything above that is a waste of fuel.

Need info.....
I'm looking at a 1970 31' Del Ray sloop. Unfortunately, I can find nothing on this boat at all (through Google and Yahoo searches) , although, it is suppose to be a factory manufactured vessel.
Has any one ever heard of this one?

Certainly!
When I bought GE, she had been rigged for a Monitor windvane. The PO had sold a portion of it but the transom mounts are still there. I also have several large pcs. of the SS tubing for the mechanism, alo.
