Re: Cape Dory´s in Europe?
Thanks for your generous offer :-) Noted. The price asked was 18 000 USD, and it would have been a fair price in this market if it was ready to use, and seaworthy. Far too many things just needed a "minor and cheap fix", oilleak from the engine with only 19 hours on it and much more. In ca...

Re: Cape Dory´s in Europe?
Yes, there are many boats to choose from and many are coming for sale after the holidays now. I´ll find one for me, but I like the CD so much that I feel a little sad too.

Re: Cape Dory´s in Europe?
Thank you very much for your helpful responses, but I am not going to be a CD owner I´m afraid. The boat I inspected today (hull 255) was not in a condition for me. Too many things to do to get her seaworthy for my use at my budget. But - I loved the looks and design irl too, and for the right perso...

Re: Cape Dory´s in Europe?
Bringing a CD to europe my self is not an option. And I´m not even sure if I want it yet. I´ll find out if the norwegian owner is the same visiting your board a few years ago saturday. First look in less than 48 hours. Exciting.

Re: Cape Dory´s in Europe?
Understand the Wrangler comparison Pete, but here in Norway I might end up owning the only CD so it will be the looks more than the recognition :-) Regarding prices I guess you are saying they are cheap in the US? I don´t know the expression "almost at Fr", but the boat I´m drawn to costs ...

Re: Cape Dory´s in Europe?
That´s my impression too, Pete. It will do distance better than most "fast" boats. A small inflateable (soft bottom) with a lightweight motor will do fine. I have even thought of just having a "packraft", but then I´ll miss the opportunity to bring a passenger. I guess owning a C...

Re: Cape Dory´s in Europe?
Thank you Cathy. The boat for sale is buildt in -82, and pictures show it has pedestal steering of the newer type. The owner will be available after holidays next week, so I will get more answers then. It looks like there is a boom attached to the inner foresail, but no good pictures of the deck in ...

Re: Cape Dory´s in Europe?
Thank you for the response. A dodger with a steep front will fit then, and auto-pilots can be bought without to much hazzle of modifying the construction of the original steering? Thats good news, except the cost of it... I do like the freedom and privacy of staying at anchor, so a tiny dinghy with ...

Cape Dory´s in Europe?
I´m looking for a sailboat to enjoy the coasts of Scandinavia, with the additional goal of a one year trip along the norwegian coast - from the swedish boarder to the Russians up north and back. Looking at adds for months I have found a few boats that will do the job, but not making me really want t...
