Ron,
Thanks for your reply. Did you have any black material, almost like roofing paper between the hull and the wood backing plate?
Thanks.

Ground Plate
Seem to have developed some leakage from the grounding plate on my CD 27. Does anyone know what the material is that is between the hull and the backing plate, which is wood? The wood is quite wet and it is the first time that I have noticed this.
Thanks,
Richard

CD 27 Cabin Top Jib Track & Blocks
I will be sailing in SF Bay where it can get up there in wind. My new 90% Jib was designed to be led through the blocks on the cabin top tracks on my CD 27 to retain shape. Wondering if the 3/4” track with the relatively small blocks are up to the task. My prior experience is sailing in Los Angeles ...

CD 27 Raw Water Intake...
Wondering what size the raw water intake seacock is in other CD 27’s. Mine is 1/2 inch but unfortunately not the original one that came with the boat.

Re: YSB 8 Smoke & Carbon Issues - CD27 - SOLVED
Thanks for the replies. Fouled prop was indeed the culprit. Glad to have replaced the mixing elbow and the injector as well as now no partially burnt fuel escaping and mixing elbow was original to boat as well.
Many thanks.

YSB 8 Smoke & Carbon Issues - CD27
YSB 8 in my CD27 has lost about 1/3 power and is exhausting carbon and black smoke under any more than 1/3 + throttle. Increasing throttle position does not increase RPMs under load nor boat speed while under way. No problem at lower to medium RPM but definitely not full power. When advancing the th...

Re: Water not pumping on 1GM Yanmar
Speed seal is good but as the access to the impeller on the water pump is facing aft on my ysb8 (1978 CD 27 #66), it does not really make the kind of difference that matters as I have to remove the water pump to get at the impeller housing. Is there an alternative that I am missing here?
Thanks

Re: Good book for winter reading
I met Derek last summer on Saltspring Island, BC where he lives. He was on a dock I was visiting working on his Bristol Channel Cutter. I remembered that I had his book on my shelf and read it when I got home. Yes, it is terrific. I also just finished "CLOSE TO THE WIND" by Pete Goss who w...

Re: CD27 Original Rigging Size
Thanks for the lead. I have the original owners manual which is the same as the one that I downloaded form the Web Site. It does not have the wire sizes. I did however give a call to Robinhood Marine and they were most helpful giving sending me the specs. The fellow who helped me has a CD27, hull #9...

8 hp Yanmar
Great thread...heat consideration mostly solved but the real question for me is about my trusty, 8hp Yanmar diesel, original to the boat 1978. No idea how many hours it has but it has been reasonably maintained the last 15 years (since I have owned the boat), and has never failed me. I know how to b...

Origo Stove & Clay Pot
How about a small clay pot on my Origo Stove - the 4000 model, liquid alcohol fuel not pressurized, leaving a port light cracked for ventilation. Heat the clay flower pot that will radiate heat. I also find that the trawler lamp when lit will warm the cabin a bit too, but that is here in Southern Ca...

CD 27 & Inland Passage From Seattle to Alaska
Has any one either done this trip, or know of anyone who has? Would the CD 27 be suitable for this voyage?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Hand Pump on CD 27
If you replace the hand pump with a foot pump, what do you replace the hand pump at the sink with?

Foot Pump CD27
What about the sink side of the deal? What spout instead of the hand pump?
