Re: Opening port gasket replacement
has anybody used the Ultra-Weather-Resistant EPDM Foam TUBE instead of the Ultra-Weather-Resistant EPDM CORD ? price is cheaper but most important is sold in 6 ft length instead of 100'? Tube will be softer I guess. Actually was thinking to use it on the hatch that seems to be the same diameter thanks

Re: Leaking bronze ports?
The spartan marine gaskets I installed on the FR have held up well. Three years of hard use. No leaks. But I think it would be wise to have a length of gasket material aboard the FR if they do start to leak at some point. Seems we could split up a 100’ roll three ways and cut the cost by 1/3. Anyon...

Re: Leaking bronze ports?
I replaced my gaskets about 10 years ago using the same McMaster-Carr material. The removal of the old is the biggest task. After scraping out the old as best of could, I used a small wire brush drill attachment. About 1-1/2 diameter and 1/4 - 3/8" thick. Fit perfect in the groves of the port ...

navigation table CD30 MII how have you fitted the teak table
boat came with a very nice unmounted teak piece that is just the right fitting for the pilot berth, however if I decide to mount it will have couple of issues, one will be on the way to use the pilot berth and second the only way to use it as a table is seating side ways on the settee. Have you found ...

Re: Self tending boom preventer
in a different boat I ran a set of lines from the boom to both sides and ran them thru small blocks to the the railing on both starboard and port, added couple of cleats close to the cockpit, easy to reach and not perfect but worked, just a thought. Usually the load is not that big and get away with s ...

Re: "Leoma" windlass
Just read Stone comments on Cape Horn and agree entirely with his post.
I was really undecided between Cape Horn and Monitor, the 1000.00 dollars difference in cost was decisive in my case, but I will have been happy with either.

Re: "Leoma" windlass
Leoma you may be able to lower the total $$$$$$ I just bought an used Monitor, plan to install week from now. Keep an eye on adds as they come up for sale and the key is what condition they are,if the seller is the original owner then Monitor (Suzy Savage) will have the record on that unit and help ...
