Re: CD 30 bow Chocks

Yes I'm finding them to small. its not about the size of line but the angle that the line is coming in on (because of the way the docks are setup). Right now it is doing almost a hard 90. I have chafe protection on the line so I'm not worried about that but the chock that has that line has started t...

Re: Spartan midship cleat

Two years ago I installed Spartan mid-ship cleats on my C25D. I'm pretty sure they were C212. As I remember the C212 was a little too tall, but the base was the right width. The C229 looked to be a little too wide at the base and a little too short. My toe rails don't look to be sanded a whole lot,...

Re: Companionway drip.....drip.....drip

Jim thanks for posting this. My CD 30 has a leak through the companion way as well. It is great to learn how other people are approaching this.

Spartan midship cleat

I'm looking at adding a mid-ship cleats to my cape dory 30K and I'm wondering if anyone has done this. If so what Spartan part number did you use? I'm trying to figure out if I should get the C212 or the C229. http://www.robinhoodmarinecenter.com/chocks-bronze/ I really appreciate all of the knowled...

CD 30 bow Chocks

Quick question. Does any one know how big the bow line chocks are on a CD30k I'm looking at upgrading my stern chocks to match the bow as I'm finding them under sized.

Thanks in advanced.

Re: CD30K Reverse Wheel Auto Pilot

Thank you for all of your replys it has given me alot to think about Chris, what is the brand of that steering mechanism, is it Edison? If it's original equipment it's an Edson unit. http://www.edsonmarine.com/traditional/ I believe that it is original to the boat and I believe that it is the Edson ...

Re: CD30K Reverse Wheel Auto Pilot

Chris, if you're a practical sailor subscriber the April, 2014 issue has a report on a '78 Union 36 that was fitted with a EV-1 autopilot onto its worm gear steering. This is available on line if you're a subscriber. The report mentions an ACU-200 rotary drive linked to a sprocket on the wheel's ax...

Re: CD30K Reverse Wheel Auto Pilot

Thank you Paul and Steve. What is really throwing me off is the way that the wheel is attached to the actual rudder post. I from the research that I have done I think I can make the wheel pilot work although I will have to modify the wheel. I have attached a picture of the steering system that is in...

CD30K Reverse Wheel Auto Pilot

Hi

I'm wondering if anyone has tried to install an autopilot on the reverse wheel (worm gear) on a CD30 Ketch. I'm looking at a raymarine EV-100 wheel pilot system but it has also been suggested that a linear drive pilot may also work. Thoughts?

Thanks

Chris
