Re: CD 27 engine upgrade
If you are looking for a CD 27 with an original engine, the early boats (1977-1979) had a single cyl. YSM or YSB Yanmar 8hp diesel . I still have a 1978 with this engine, and 5.5 knots is attained, still, after only 1 rebuild. Sometime in 1979 Cape Dory installed the 1GM Yanmar, which had 7 hp, and ...

Re: Almost lost our boat today.
What Cathy and Dean are referring to I believe are the barrels of the seacock, not the seacock itself being removed / installed while the boat is in the water. Although the thru-hull fitting and the seacock are separate pieces, seacocks on Cape Dorys are thru-bolted to the hull before the thru-hull ...

Re: Is this a Typhoon
This is a Typhoon, and is probably a Cape Dory. Naugus Boat Company built the Typhoon previous to Cape Dory, but this appears to be a CD. The owner might be right about 1968. The first Cape Dory Ty's had an open cockpit like this one has. The freeboard was raised and a self-bailing cockpit was desig...

Re: Almost lost our boat today.
I always had confidence in the launching process at Robinhood Marine in which, while the vessel was still in the slings, the lead launching crewman went aboard and checked all through the bilges, lockers, etc., to be sure no water was entering. They also would not launch a boat unless all seacocks o...

Re: FYI - Cape Dory brand, molds and construction
Not sure if anyone contacted Andy, but Ricardo came into the picture after Andy's sale of Robinhood Marine Center to Derecktor's. He basically "assumed ownership" of the Cape Dory name, as Newport Shipyards who purchased the name at the bank auction years ago, went out of business. Ricardo...

Re: Who pays for commissionong??
Doug, you are correct in that everything is negotiable. Who pays for what may depend on what your plans for the boat are if the sale does not take place. for instance, you may desire that the boat remains in on - land storage. In this case you could launch, rig and commission the vessel at your cost...

Re: Robinhood Marine Center is sold
John,
The CD 31 was transformed into the CD 32 so the mold was either eliminated or modified. The CD 330 used the same mold as the CD 33, and that was sold to Nauset Marine in 1994 at the second mold auction. They may still have it or have eliminated it by now.

Re: Robinhood Marine Center is sold
Are you still going to be associated with the business? Hi Joe, yes, I will continue to be the yacht broker on staff. As all of the new owners and managers are sailors, I think they will be happy with my performance, and not expect me to broker more Donzi's and Sea Rays! If they do ---- well, time t...

Re: Robinhood Marine Center is sold
Spartan Marine will continue to be a part of Derecktor / Robinhood. Maybe soon there will be an on line ordering process, too. The Cape Dory sailboat molds are another matter, as they were not part of the acquisition. Andy will retain his ownership of them.
