I had a crack on one of mine and was able to get it welded. He was a old timer who knew about aluminum welding. I was a little skeptical at first, but I recall it cost less than $50 and, as they say, was "as good as new." Worth checking out.

Jerry, I used Rust-oleum Leather Brown on both my 28 and 25D. I thought it worked well for Lake Michigan water. I recall applying two coats when I redid the boot stripe. My criteria was the "10 foot rule"....looked pretty good from 10 feet away. Here is a link: https://www.rustoleum.com/pr...

Sorry about the virus/malware scare, folks. I have received the Blue Water Sailing newsletter/blog for several years and never had a issue. I use a Mac. I was just trying to pass on what I thought was some good news to those who have a documented Cape Dory. Hope nobody got infected.
