Re: East coast and Bahamas Cruise CD 25D

Thanks, this thread brought back some good memories. Since this trip we have sold the 25D and just purchased a Hans Christian 33 for some long distance cruising. As I'm rebuilding all the broken systems on this boat I can't help but think back and miss the simplicity of the Cape Dory. Only if the wi...

Cape Dory 25D Faircloth Cover $300

I have an all canvas 25D cover with supports, the canvas is in excellent condition however 1 of the support poles (galvanized conduit) is bent and could either be repaired or replaced but overall the cover is still usable. Cover is made by Faircloth and is worth easily $1,000, sold our boat and now ...

Re: LaVida southbound

we had quite the icw mustache after our trip also, I read about using toilet bowl cleaner and just tried it works great and cheaper than boat related cleaners. Just wipe some on with a cloth let it sit, then wipe off.

Re: East coast and Bahamas Cruise CD 25D

Sea Hunt, we really liked the walker bay for many reasons, you can find one relatively cheap on craigslist, they are nearly indestructible, we dragged it over many rocks and up and down beaches without worry, i can't compare it with any other hard dingy but we had no problem rowing it against strong...

Re: East coast and Bahamas Cruise CD 25D

Cjrs472,

We towed a walker bay 8 for most of the trip and put it up on deck for a few of the longer crossings, it was a bit tight on deck since we have hank on sails but with a roller furler I think it would be fine. A nesting dinghy really would have been the best option.

East coast and Bahamas Cruise CD 25D

This past winter my wife and I took our 25D down the ICW to Beufort, NC then offshore to FL and through the bahamas. We had a great trip and our 25D held up to its reputation of being a stout pocket cruiser. Here's some photos of our trip. Glad to answer any questions with anyone looking to do this ...

Also wouldn't it continue to vibrate at the higher rpm if there was an alignment issue?

Re: excessive vibration mid rpms

I waited over 48 hours to do the second alignment, it felt like the shaft was pretty centered in the stern tube when I aligned but also difficult to tell for sure because of the dripless shaft seal not providing a little support before the shaft enters the stern tube. Any way to know for sure if it'...

excessive vibration mid rpms

I just recently had my 25d hauled and replaced the cutlass bearing, motor mounts and had the shaft/coupling/prop re balanced. After launching her I aligned the coupling to .003/inch however after a sea trial I'm experiencing a good amount of vibration around 1200-1800 rpms which wasn't there before....

Re: Rhiannon's Southerly Trek 2014

Hello all, my wife and I are also traveling south aboard our 25D "Tatyana" We had to pull out here in Charleston today due to a shot cutlass bearing. Hope to be on the way south in a few days though. We also ran into Tantalus a few times and I believe we saw Rhiannon pulling into Wrightsvi...
