1983 Typhoon for sale - Boston, MA

1983 Cape Dory Typhoon -- one of the final years of the Typhoon builds. Excellent condition for the age --no soft spots -- decks, cabin, etc. are solid. I bought this last season as a day sailor for the kids while I was doing another sailboat project and wanted to keep them on the water. I am only t...

Re: LOOKING FOR A USED LUKE STORM ANCHOR 65-75LBS

The Luke anchor is a near copy of the Herreshoff Yachting anchor. While it is a form of "kedge" or fishermans anchor the Herreshoff/Luke has improvements - snagless flukes, a specific widening angle of entry, and breaks down into two to three parts (depending on size). They have a very goo...

Re: Need Marina/Boat Club Recommendations in MA/RI

Tripp & Sons is an excellent old time Marina. The Westport River can be tricky with it's shoals and shallows - and its a bit of a trip by car to get there (no pun intended) as Westport Point is a fairly long drive down on the point - no easy way there. Beautiful town though. In the same area: Ju...

Re: Need Marina/Boat Club Recommendations in MA/RI

You really have two basic Sailing locations for the area your thinking of moving to - Buzzards Bay and Narragansett Bay. Buzzards Bay is some of the finest sailing waters in the country and basically runs the south cost of MA from the RI border to the Cape Cod Canal. Just about every port along here...

Re: Goldeneye vs. Typhoon

I probably shouldn’t have used that term – it’s a bit antiquated for describing a boat that is predictable and slower in her motions. The Ty is a bit underpowered for her weight/WL, and with fuller bow sections she stands up to a blow – doesn’t really hobby horse (for a boat her size) but doesn’t re...

Re: Goldeneye vs. Typhoon

The CCSB Golden eye is a modification by Sidney Herreshoff (in the early 1950's) to his fathers "improvement to the Herreshoff 12 1/2" design #1133 "FANO" (Built 1930). It appears that the 12 1/2 was still preferred by clients of Herreshoff as FANO was the only one built. I've sa...

Re: Wanted: Typhoon - Boston Area

I've purchased a 1983 Ty - But without trailer. Would like to find a decent used trailer for her. This would be used for winter storage mostly and a twice a year 10 minute trip from home to the boatyard. If anyone has one in decent shape let me know - Boston area.

Wanted: Typhoon - Boston Area

Looking for a Ty in excellent condition - no structural issues - IE soft spots, bad rigging, rudder issues, leaks, etc... Basically one that has either been very well maintained or one that has gone through a restoration. Not as concerned with basic cosmetics. Prefer trailer, but not 100% necessary....
