Re: CD 31 Propeller
We replaced our 2 blade prop with a 3 blade fixed prop. We noticed some improvement going forward against head seas. No improvement in reversing it just takes practice with the prop walk. We attended a Cape Dory gathering in Newport and a fellow owner told us to keep a line long enough to walk the b...

Re: Dish drying rack for CD 31 double sink.
We had a Cape Dory 31 for many years and had a drying rack which we are still using on our current vessel. Try a RV camping supply pace that's where we found one a few years back. We may have 2 one on the boat and one in the garage. If interested pm me.
Best of luck,

Re: Replace repair cockpit sole in cd 33
WE had a CD 31 and replaced the cockpit sole, the balsa cor was the problem. At the time Cape Dory was still in business and was very helpful in providing non skid, and paint . It was a lengthy job but it never had a problem after wards.. Had the boat for 16 years after.

Re: Rebalancing the keel of a CD31
In regards to who offered the comments about adding more lead in the bilge. At the time Cape Dory was still building boats in Taunton Mass. The factory had a very active quarterly newsletter and I frequently chatted with Howie Meams (remember this is 1989). I met Howie in January 89 at the New York ...

Re: Rebalancing the keel of a CD31
We had a Cape Dory 31 Hull # 29 from 85 thru 98. In 89 we took the boat to Robinhood Marine, for the Cape Dory Rendezvous, a had 300 lbs of lead installed in the bilge area. As stated the bilge was smaller and SHE pointed much better. This was the reason explained to us by the factory back in the ol...

Re: Replacing old Merriman steering pedestal on CD31
We had a 31 Cape Dory and did replace the Merriman Pedestal with an Edson Pedestal. The hole pattern was not a problem and it was a matter of connecting the transmission & Throttle linkage. The below deck quadrant remained in place.
This replacement was done in 1989 on Hull # 29.

Re: Windlass Replacement
Have you thought of contacting IDEAL Windlass to see if the windlass could be rebuilt? I been to the Ideal Windlass back in 2001 when looking for a windlass. The company has been in business since 1930 or longer, as you say the unit is a workhorse. We have a 35 # CQR with all chain and appreciate no...

Re: Looking for a Bermuda Boat
Hello,
If you can remember back to 2001 in Tenants Harbor Maine I believe you tied a knot on the center point of our wheel. Also you made contact with someone in South America via our Ham Radio. If you like we can chat off line.
Regards George S/v SACHEM
