Re: Southeast fleet??
Well, thanks for the folks that said they would come. I know of at least 3 in the Melbourne area, I think they would come as well. Steve, I'll call you tomorrow or Weds and chat, to see what needs to be done and how we can kick this off. I'd love for this to happen, both for the owners in the area a...

Re: CD27 on ebay - $4500
Ah yea, I saw it folded up in front of the companionway and assumed it was a dodger.wizard wrote:Didn't read in the ad there was a dodger, he said there was a bimini, is that what you are talking about?

Re: Southeast fleet??
Thanks for the response. I guess I was curious if anyone had tried to set one up in the past and failed for one reason or another.
I would love to see about getting a fleet started for the East coast of FL, I'll ring you guys after things from Christmas settle down and the new year starts.

Southeast fleet??
I notice that there is a fleet covering most of the East coast, except for the Atlantic areas of FL & GA. I know in Melbourne alone we have at least 4 or 5 Cape Dory's that I'm aware of, probably more. I know there are a few 'active' (on the board, anyway) members in FL, so why don't we have a f...

Re: How to heave to
I have never dropped the main with the jib backed. I always imagined the since the main would no longer be driving the boat, that the rudder would be overwhelmed by the backed jib and the boat would fall off the wind. We never have to use the main to remain hove to. In fact, the first I had heard o...

Re: CD27 battery box rebuild
Wow, yours is a lot better than ours! We ended up just building a shelf in the starboard side, similar to what was already there. I like your setup a lot, though. My plans are to replace the berth on the starboard side with a new galley. I saw pictures of a 27 that did just that, they replaced most ...

Re: filling a thru-hull hole
I would work with someone that has done it before, learn by doing, but have someone watching over you to make sure it's done correctly.

Re: Patching mast screw holes
I usually drill them out slightly larger if they are corroded and put a rivet in place.
The structural "damage" is done, but at least it patches the hole and prevents water from seeping in.

Re: VHF mounting location
Thanks for the advice folks. It didn't occur to me that I could mount it off to one side of the companionway, I like that idea, we'll give it a shot and see how it turns out.
Thanks!
