Re: Potable Water Fills
Good suggestions all, thank you. I fell in to the trap of thinking because the deck fill is available I should use it; instead, I will utilize the clean-outs to also fill the tanks. And since I am having new tanks manufactured from stainless, I will just eliminate the tank fills altogether. Thank yo...

Potable Water Fills
I have a 1981 CD-30 with two fresh water tanks under the settees. The previous owner removed the plumbing from the deck fill to the tanks. Since there is one deck fill for two tanks, I am uncertain if the single fill was plumbed to a simple T-fitting or if the hose was connected to a valved manifold...

Re: Convert Boom Staysail
Thank you for all the input. After some more consideration, cluttering up the coach roof with tracks and more lines will make footing while working at the mast dodgy. I think I'll just experiment with ways to manage the boom while working on the foredeck underway and anchoring. Always nice to bounce...

Not as applicable to sailboats, but we use it in aviation all the time:

Re: Any suggestions on replacing galley cooker?
I replaced the old alcohol stove with a Force 10 gas stove in my CD-30C. The American Standard 2 burner range (model #63251) fit into the existing space with little modification required. On their website, they have all their range dimensions so you can determine what will fit in the CD-33 galley sp...

Convert Boom Staysail
I am considering eliminating the staysail boom on my CD-30C and and rigging the sail with cabin-top tracks and sheets. I experimented with sheeting directly to the clew from the existing traveler, but the sheet angle is way to far forward it seems. Does anybody have any experience with such a conver...

Norvane installation CD-30
I am preparing to install a Norvane steering system on my CD-30C and wondered if anybody on the board had any experience doing a similar install. Pitfalls? Difficulties? Thank you for the help.

Re: Electrical Cable Routing
Thanks for all the guidance. I ended up having the wiring routed from a terminal block underneath the mast along the exterior of the starboard bulkhead to the edge of the liner, then aft. It appears the original mast wires and VHF coax were epoxied or glassed between the liner and coach roof. Unfort...

Electrical Cable Routing
I recently purchased a 1981 CD-30C (Hull # 0220) with no power to the mast. Some investigation found the mast wire cut near the electrical panel, but with a significant portion of the wire stuffed between the liner and coach roof under the mast step. The VHF antenna coax was found in a similar state...
