Ron, thanks so much for the detailed reply.
Markst95, thanks for the 'vang shot. I also notice you run your halyards from the mast on the same path I'm considering using. Are you tying off on the standard cabintop cleats? Any issues you've had with this setup?

Ty rigging, details
Thanks again to those that set me straight on getting the mast up. At long last (due to work, not the rig) I now have a vertical mast and (mostly) horizontal boom. The main even goes up and down. Wish me luck with the head sail and roller furler tomorrow. Anyhow, wondering about certain details such...

Re: bottom problems
No solutions contained, but I'm reviewing the all products, 1981 owner's manual and came across this section. Just thought it was appropriate to have it attached to this thread: GELCOAT BLISTERS: Below the water line it is possible for water to get beneath the gelcoat and cause it to blister. This o...

Check out Dynamite Payson's Instant Boats. Primarily steps for building Phil Bolger designs, a world renowned designer. http://www.instantboats.com/boats.html I can't recommend a specific model, but can attest to the simplicity and accessibility of the methods. Although stripers are said to be fairl...

Re: bottom problems
This happened to my father's boat when we moved from Narragansett Bay (salt) to Lake Ontario (fresh). Point being, it's always been our understanding this issue is much more prevalent in sweet water due to the lower specific gravity and ease in permeating a membrane (gel coat). I don't believe he ev...

Re: Typhoon outboard questions
To those getting by with 2hp, what sort of current do you have need to work against? My recently purchased Ty came with an electric Torqeedo rated as equivalent to 2-3hp gas. It's an amazingly light unit and I'll definitely experiment with it, but suspect it will have trouble in my snarly local curr...

Re: Just purchased 1974 CD Ty, how to rig?
Thanks so much for the rigging guidance. You have certainly already saved me from great frustration and who knows what other negative consequences. Glad to hear others are family sailing on this stout little boat. Only time will tell if this will work for us. I need to get my wife up to speed on the...

Just purchased 1974 CD Ty, how to rig?
5Ge5Ja5M33E63Mf3Ndc59191d8d38f4961fb4.jpeg Wanted to introduce myself to the board. Just a couple hours ago I purchased a 1974 CD Typhoon in immaculate condition. After growing up in a sailing family, this is the first sailboat of my own (childhood Sunfish excluded). I'll be sailing out of southern...
