Re: Leak while under sail
The boat's in salt water. I'm starting to think that it is the rudder post. I replaced the thru hulls and seacocks before launching last season and didn't see any leaking all last year. There is no water at all when she's on the mooring, but a different story when under way. My sons are always eager...

Re: Leak while under sail
Thanks,
I had no idea about the limber holes. Makes sense. I have a bilge pump waiting to be installed — previous owner didn't have one.

Leak while under sail
After a two hour sail yesterday, I discovered a good 4 gallons of water accumulated in my cockpit lockers. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the bulkhead had prevented any water from going into the bilge, but needless to say, I'm not comfortable seeing that amount of water inside the boat. I re...

Re: Thoughts on a CD 10
Thanks for the feedback. I'm not really looking at it as an extension for my wife's rowing or the kids' sailing, just looking at some of the positives the CD 10 offers that an inflatable tender doesn't. Biggest concern is how it will tow behind the 25.

Thoughts on a CD 10
I am considering buying a CD 10 for multiple uses. My wife does recreational rowing on what I believe are 4 person boats. My sons will be starting their second year of sailing an Opti, and I'm looking for a dinghy for my CD 25. Just wondering if anyone has any input in terms of how the 10 rows and s...

Re: Post for table in 1978 CD 25?
Thanks for the replies. I didn't know about Continental Marine, so even if they don't have what I'm looking for, it's a good resource. Somehow, I also missed iboat on my online searches, so another good resource.

Post for table in 1978 CD 25?
Any suggestions for finding a replacement or an alternative solution for the post that holds up the small table in the cabin of my '78 Cape Dory 25? I jury-rigged a smaller diameter post this past season, but would prefer to find one that fits the way it's supposed to.
Thanks

Any way to buy a CD Burgee?
I'm enjoying my first season with my newly refinished CD 25, and was really looking forward to showing my colors by flying a CD burgee. Does anyone know if there are plans to get the online store up an running? If not, are there any other suppliers for CD burgees?
Thanks for any information

Sink Dimensions on CD 25
Based on a recommendation from a fellow CD owner, I'm going to replace the missing sink in my '78 CD 25 with a SS chafing pan from a restaurant supply store. Now all I need to do is find out what size to purchase. Does anyone happen to know the length, width and depth of the factory installed sinks?...

Thanks Tim,
I never would have thought of that, but it makes perfect, economical sense.

Sink for 1978 CD 25
Looking to reinstall the sink a PO had removed from the 25 I bought this past fall. I'm busy with other aesthetic renovations, so the sink is relatively low on my list of priorities, but I figure it can't hurt to start looking.
Thanks,
Thanks,

RE: Veneer losing its grain
First and foremost, thanks for the replies, it was my first post and I was hoping I wouldn't sound too clueless. Jim and jbenagh, I think my 25 has the same formica style veneer. The grain began disappearing before I did any sanding. The CitriStrip did a great job loosening the varnish, I just didn'...

Teak Veneer Losing Its Grain
Hello, I just began some minor refinishing work on the 1978 CD 25 I bought at the end of last season. The forward bulkheads are in good shape, but the color has grown very dark with age. I was hoping to lighten them via bleaching with oxalic acid (per Don Casey). My first step was to remove a layer ...
