Re: 1975 cape dory 28 Faryman powered.
Hi.....I do not believe that they will total the vessel. The problem is they are trying to figure who is at fault. I explained that it's immaterial who is at fault because it's definitely not me. Looks like about 5000.00 damage. We will see what they cover....Ben ....... By the way ....the insurance...

Re: 1975 cape dory 28 Faryman powered.
Pete....the water level reached the height of the seat area in the cabin and floated the cushions . The engine was removed ,thank god ,cause the engine compartment was full of sea water. I do have a concern about ice damage through expansion but I do believe that their was enough open space to allow...

Hi....the boat was in the service slip at the time of engine removal with the sling belts loose underneath it was a Friday afternoon and the marina left the boat in the water for the weekend above loose belts. We assume as the boat filled up with seawater is sank until the belts we're taunt . They p...

Furling Genoa sail on CD28
Hi...."Donnybrook" is being pulled from the sea today for the winter. I have not been able to remove my Genoa sail from it's furler because of a knee injury. I doubt i'll be able to climb on the vessel on the hard to remove it.....so my question is ....what is the general consensus about l...

Shift lever on CD 28 Farymann installation
Can anyone out there with this unique engine installation confirm something for me? My transmission apeared to be slipping when first engaged in either forward or reverse. I asked my local marina to adjust the linkage. They had no info on that installation, and asked for all the literature that I ha...

cd 28 listing?
My 1975 CD28 is listing 5 degrees to port. I have no explanation for this. Does anyone have any ideas as to why? I know the fuel tank is on the port side, and the sewage tank is on the port side, but I can't recall ever noticing the list. My wife says i'm crazy, that I just didn't notice it before. I...

Main sail reefing on an old 75 CD28
Hello.... Does anyone have a fast and easy way to reef the main sail on a CD28. It's an older boat...1975....and I can't figure how your suppose to reef that sail when the wind is blowing 30 k and your already underway. Any plain language description and pictures would be appreciated. Thanx in advan...

CD 28 Bimini cover
Hi...Installed a bimini on our 1975 CD28,"DONNYBROOK" about two years ago. For obvious reasons ,the bimini sits just below the boom so when it's deployed we sit. Their are straps that attach forward that block easy access to the bow....so we do not deploy the bimini in heavy winds or more ...

CD-28
Hi everyone....we have owned a 1975 CD 28,"Donnybrook", for going on 8 years. We sailed a 1975 Typhoon for about ten years. When we purchased this vessel it was from the original owner who did absolutely no improvements on the boat, so it was totally original. The first thing I did was rep...

CD28 Rudder post
A little update.... After mooring Donnybrook and donning mask and snorkel,it appears that the rudder play originates at the base of the tiller. The rudder itself seems to be firmly attached to the rudder post. I assume that I can sail until pullout in 2 months. Thanks everyone for all your valuable ...

Cd28 rudder post
Thanxs everyone for the valuable input. I don't know what I would do without all the knowledgeable sailors on this site. My wife and I will moor the boat near the beach tomorrow, and I will check out the integrity of the bond on the rudder. Thanks again.

RUDDER POST ON cd28
Thanx for the input....the water migration I can live with. My big concern is the possibility of a loss of rudder control while under way. With 6-8 weeks left in the sailing season, that is my main concern.
