For Sale [Again] CD30K Eleventh Hour Lower Price
We have moved down to Savannah, GA and practicality and reality have caught up with our hopes of keeping our updated Cape Dory 30. She is currently located in Oriental, NC. Work schedules, the new location, and a house that will need much attention made us conclude that we will be unable to use her ...

Re: Cape Dory 30 cutter, masthead sheaves replacement.
For the tack, I drilled a hole in my, rather substantial, Windline bow roller and added a block. I run a long line with a snap shackle through the bow block. This allows me to clip the shackle to the life line when I am sorting out the sail and then clip it to the tack. The other end is taken back ...

Re: Route Thoughts NYC to Savannah GA
Hi Scott, I was at the landings this afternoon (just flew back into JFK) and met a fellow CD owner who had their boat at Diegal creek marina. You have to know the tides to get in, but I think it will work for the staging of our vacations. I put an offer on a house in the Landings today and it would ...

Hi Scott, Thanks for the advice! You have had some extraordinary heights the last few years and two two beautiful blessings in your photo. Oriental with two children and a Cape Dory is about as perfect as heaven on earth that I know. Strolling down Main St., getting Ice Cream at the Bean, and fishin...

Re: Route Thoughts NYC to Savannah GA
Thanks Russell! I always value your insights. June is very mild, for a non stop trip I think fuel would be an issue that time of year (you might motor a lot). NYC to Norfolk, ICW, then Morehead City to Savannah is a sensible route with gives a lot of flexability and a lot of bail out inlets. The non...

Re: Route Thoughts NYC to Savannah GA
At the last minute we changed plans and took a job in Savannah! Thankfully, we will be near water and will not be selling Eleventh Hour. After suggesting the sale to my wife, she became the most scary 4'10" person you will ever meet. She thought we should buy a barn and store her there indefini...

Re: Route Thoughts NYC to Savannah GA
I agree Steve, it's not called the graveyard of the Atlantic for nothing! The trip north is preferred but I won't be doing that in the foreseeable decades. I always try to have plans, back up plans, and back up-back up plans. Thanks Jim for your words; if I ever get time I will put together our fami...

Route Thoughts NYC to Savannah GA
I will be heading from NYC to Savannah, GA in late June. When I left NC two years ago I used the ICW (probably done that route 8 times now) and headed from Norfolk direct to NYC. If I leave NYC and head south, position myself close enough to Norfolk harbor if the forecast changes, will that be too c...

Ended up taking another job offer, so Eleventh Hour is no longer for sale and will be headed to Savannah, GA. Thanks, Adam Sad news: we got a great job offer with more money than we need BUT we will be moving and absolutely forced to sell our beloved Eleventh Hour. She is a 1979 CD30K More informati...

Thanks Jim,Jim Walsh wrote:I like the traditional color selection you made for your spars, but let's hope Boatpix doesn't see the ad.
I did buy a couple of prints from Boatpix, i honestly loved their shots and the idea of the company. However, I couldn't afford the $1000 for the digital rights.

Re: Garhauer - good people!
I ordered a new main traveler system this past summer. They fabricated perfect custom stainless risers that took minutes to install! The traveler bar was too long ended up being too long with the cant of the deck, so Guido fabricated a new one and shipped it out free of any charge! Not to mention th...

Re: Questions regarding the Cape Dory 25
The interior teak condition will tell you a lot about the care the previous owner took regarding leaks. If you have access to a moisture meter (and know how to use it) it would help. I believe there are a few good books out there (Don Casey, etc.) that give you a 101 on boat buying...I would highly ...

Re: Opening port gasket replacement
I installed the Spartan gaskets 1.5 years ago and no leaks since. There is a diagonal seam, but they all fit perfect. I enjoyed the time saved on the project (with so many on the list) and also supporting our chandler. A+ rating from me
