When is a dirty hull a structural problem?

I know, the question sounds stupid. But, I am interested in a CD25 that is in decent to good shape (haven't yet seen it as it's a three hour drive away). But from what I've been told and the one photo I've seen, the bottom is filthy to the point of obvious growth below the bootstripe and browning a ...

Re: WTB - CD25-28

Seriously considering a CD28 that I really like. Just trying to work out the details so that it stays within my price range. It needs bottom paint, a new foresail, and I'll need a way to transport it the 250 miles to my home in Jacksonville, FL. Keep your fingers crossed!

CD22 Jacksonville FL

1981 CD 22 for sale in Jacksonville, FL. I saw this boat and am forwarding the information (I am not affiliated with the boat in any way). I was told by the dockmaster that the owner has major health problems and is eager to sell. He encouraged all reasonable offers. https://myboats.boattrader.com/l...

Re: WTB - CD25-28

Hi Randy! I hope you are doing well. No luck so far. I was really excited to check out a CD25D this weekend in SC but the owner seems to have changed her mind about selling. A nice guy in west Florida is looking to sell his CD27, but I'm not sure my budget can afford it. I might check out a CD28 in ...

Re: WTB - CD25-28

Thanks Pete. I've been scouring Sailboatlistings, Yachtworld, Sailing Texas, and even Search Tempest. There are a few CD25s I like but they are in the northeast and too far for me to check out any time soon. But I will keep looking.

Warmest regards to you and the CDSOA folk!

WTB - CD25-28

I am finally in the market for a keel boat and am seeking a CD25 (1980+) to a CD28. My budget is modest (max $10K) and would ideally like to find something in the southeast. Limiting I know, but there can't be a better place to look than this site! I'd also consider a similarly sized Alberg-type boa...

Re: Looking for CD 27 or CD 28

Mark has a very nice CD 28 stored on fresh water in N Georgia not far from Atlanta. He is asking a VERY low price for that boat, in part to help with shipping were the interested buyer wanting to get it to the coast (and it'd be a good price even with that; shipping to the GA or SC coast shouldn't b...

1978 CD 28 for sale in GA

My friend Mark is selling "Pursuit", his 1978 CD 28, now located on a lake just north of Atlanta. He's selling her at a great price ($10,995), in part to account for the fact that buyers would need to haul her to bigger water and to motivate buyers for a faster sale. Check her out at: http...

Re: Seller's rant

True that. Caliente is possibly the most stunning Cape Dory around. Period. She's a rare gem that warrants a higher than normal price. However, she's the exception rather than the rule.

Re: Seller's rant

I'm with Bruce (above). There are lots of folk still asking pre-2008 prices for boats that won't command 70% of that today (at best). A CD 30 cutter for $40-50K? A CD 27 for $28K and another one (albeit stellar) at $35K? Some pricing just isn't realistic. But I do get the point, especially as someon...

Re: 1981 CD 27 on Ebay

It does appear that the port side might have been in the water. There seems to be what looks like water damage on the back of the port settee and in the v-birth near the top of the teak. The engine supposedly runs fine "last time" it was started (but that might have been quite some time ag...

1981 CD 27 on Ebay - 1 day left!

I found this 1981 DC 27 on Ebay this weekend (June 10). It was donated to a charity and is on auction. Last time I checked, the max bid was $2000. I am NOT the owner, broker, or related to the seller in any way--I'm just a CD enthusiast who dreams of owning one someday. If my wife were on board (fig...

Re: Just bought a Cape Dory 25. Looking for advise.

Tow weight: I think you're looking at 4,000 lbs + with gear. :!: IMPORTANT: Remember that a car/truck's towing capacity is rated for relatively flat ground (e.g., highway driving). Pulling a significant weight out of a 15+ degree wet and slippery ramp is a very different matter (I learned this the h...

IGNORE EARLIER POST!!!!

:!: I did some research and found that Bhartley (above) is right. These guys have a terrible reputation for a number of things, including misrepresenting the state of boats they sell and selling boats for which there is NOT a clear title. If you choose to see this boat, take a good marine surveyor a...
