Re: Outboard Motor to fit the well of my 25CD

Glad to hear that there is hope for the stern bogging down! There is no plug for the drain hole on ours, although I’m curious... did you ask because the plug should be in? Or out? It doesn’t strike me as making a difference either way. But worth the ask. So. Two projects for this year. A new seahood...

Re: Sea Hood

Hahaha.... Well played, Sir.

I did check our your boat, it's beautiful! But the family of four needs a larger upgrade than 2'

Our boat is the (seemingly) rare dinette version and despite the size, we love it.

I do hope yours sells quickly and painlessly.

Happy glassing!

Re: Outboard Motor to fit the well of my 25CD

We have a 73 CD25 and our 6 fits nicely in the well. We do close the lid when motoring for more than a few minutes. We just flip the tiller arm back and steer with the boat’s tiller. I only turn the motor itself while docking. It works like a stern thruster, or extra steerage in tight spaces. I wish...

Re: Sea Hood

IF you raise the sea hood are you still going to have a low rear edge to keep the water from getting to the closed hatch? It seems like the lower rear edge would be a head banger when you are not expecting it. I like those observation bubbles you see on some offshore boats. They would mess up some ...

Re: Sea Hood

I see this thread is old... and my seahood is still the original. But now it’s off and at the very least will be rebuilt in strip planked wood and with a hatch in the top. The sliding hatch will become removeable. Storage of the hatch once removed will be the big issue, but we can figure that out. A...

Two more pics... plus one of my newly buffed and waxed cabin. That’s just for fun.

Re: Stern chainplate angle?

Thanks for the suggestions... but it’s already done. As it turns out, the need to get the job done outweighed the time to wait for a response. I realized that would be the case shortly after my question was posted. I couldn’t locate my protractor, so I used a ruler to trace the angle off the profile...

Stern chainplate angle?

I am switching to an external chainplate for the rear stay on our CD25. The rebar that was glassed in had about 1/4" of good steel left holding the rig together. We were an accidental gibe away from an exciting time. I am fabricating my own chainplate and wondering how to calculate a proper ben...

Re: Marine Head in CD 25?

I added a 9 gallon holding tank against the hull behind the head. 9 gallons doesn't hold much and it takes the four of us one weekend to fill it (if we're staying aboard). the vent and the pump out are both on the port side. I will likely forget by the time I get on board, but I'll try to post a pic...

Re: Photo of undersole jack method

Hi...

I see this is an old thread.

The picture doesn't exist anymore (using the link). Were you raising your cockpit? Mine is sinking slowly.

anybody still have the photo?

Thanks,
Ben

CD 25 main and Genoa for sale

We just got new sails for our 25 and have the old ones for sale to offset the cost of the new. Sails are old, but we have used them for the past 5 seasons. Main has battens and some patching. If you already have an old sail, this may not be an upgrade. But if you need one.... 150 Genoa is in pretty ...

Re: Split Teak Coaming

Ours was split and fixed by the PO. They took the coaming off, clamped it together and then drilled holes up from the bottom edge and screwed it back together. You can barely see the crack. Now that they are all varnished up you can't see it.

Re: Silly downwind idea... Or is it?

Exactly! It should always look good, right? I imagine it to be a bit of a keystone cops adventure. A (hopefully) fun way to get the family working the deck more. We are adding a new main and new 135 genoa this year. We think all the sails are original. At first I was going with a cruising spinnaker,...

Silly downwind idea... Or is it?

I have always liked the look of cruising boats with all the "extra" sails up... Ketches with jibs mounted on a temporary stay between the main and mizzen mast, double headsails, etc. It's more impressive on tall ships. Anyhow. In light air would it be a bad idea to fly a small spinnaker be...

Re: New mainsail and selling an Oday....

Thanks for the input. As a maker and seller of goods I agree wholeheartedly with buying local, American, etc. However, as a maker and seller of goods I am not always able to buy local. If more people bought my wares :) I'd be able to, and gladly would buy from the closest/best sailmaker to my house....
