Matt,
After anchoring off Royal Island I complimented Betty on how she handled the trip. She said her concern was her life and mine was the boat. Luckily, she didn't feel her life was in danger. Good to hear from you and give Carolyn our best.
Cheers, Orie

Need work done on east coast of Florida, south of Vero
My bedding for the motor mount needs some fixing. The Yanmar 30F and mount needs to be lifted and support bar replaced. While there, I'll have them install a proper autopilot for this size boat. A Simrad wheel-pilot is not rated for this size vessel. It desinagrated in front of my very eyes in a fol...

zigzag
You are as naive as I. When soliciting a new name for my boat my son came up with several, one being Zigzag. I kept the name the boat came with, Suncatcher. The first person from these boards who came aboard to check out the refit showed me where to hide my stash. Being a little dumb founded I said ...

Boatyard, Marsh Harbour, Abaco, Bahamas
The hurricane Irene hit the Marsh Harbour boatyard dead center. Just returned after checking on my boat. I want to commend the boatyard for a job well done. They put a stand on the bow and three down each side. They also built a wooden cradle across the hull. There wasn't any damage to the boats tha...

gps
I wouldn't own my boat without a GPS or an auto-pilot. I can get by without until they're fixed, but on a 3/4 day cruise why fight it. I really don't have a home port. Keep on the move and fly back and forth to the boat. If the boat stayed on the Chesapeake or say Lake Champlain I wouldn't see a nee...

Don't know if the link below will help. It's what was on my 33' and I replaced it with same. I waited for a new one on ebay. It was around a $100. http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&sugexp=gsis,i18n%3Dtrue&cp=13&gs_id=2&xhr=t&q=shurflo+shower+mixer+faucet+combo&gs_u...

Marsh Harbour, Bahamas
My 33' was in the boatyard, Marsh Harbour, Abaco. The eye center went about 15 miles east. The scary part was I couldn't get any info for about 3 days. Luckily I only had the solar panel blow off, but no damage. The upper stainless was secured with set screws. We'll put a weld on it and take the pan...

shoes
Having been up in the air over this one I agree with you. In bare feet it is very slippery when wet. In all seriousness shoes could very well be the difference in saving my life.
The fellow who told me to go barefoot was very adamant on the subject. Didn't make sense to me either.

stubbing the toes
I'm new to sailboating and have heard two schools of thought on wearing shoes when going forward. A captain friend with extensive experence, while we were sailing said to never go forward with shoes on. Now if it's cold you have to wear shoes. He said you're more likely to trip in shoes and you're m...

An anchor light on the boom is a great idea or two LED yard lights in the rod holders on the bimini with better batteries installed. My night vision is not so good; I admit for me anchor lights in the harbor sometimes do look like stars. Much further away than the boat. I'm going to order all lights...

lights
Thanks for the reply, I'll try the bulb mentioned. My problem away from the boat is I live in Kentucky. You can't tool down to the store and check it out. My boat being at the boatyard in the Bahamas, the FedEx and Customs are a chore. Not to mention the extra expense. Try to go back to the boat wit...

Anchor light for 33'
Is the anchor light link below the right light for my boat? I'm replacing the antenna and going with an LED light. Don't want to go up twice. The boat is in the Bahamas so getting another light would be a problem. http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=dr+led+anchor+light&rls=com.microsoft:en-...

Mine also hang in a rack the stern rail. As a matter of fact, I put the rack back on today after a paint job.

The hose on my 33 runs the same way as was mentioned. The propane hose is sheved in a fire resistant hose.
