Setting the main singlehanded

Good evening, I have a problem when I want set my main (without autopilot) : the boat dont keep his head when I pull at the halyard. Have you any ideas for this problem ? For exemple, it is better to have the halyard on the mast or in the cockpit ? How to tie the tiller, set the jib before, etc. Tha...

Thank you again, Bob !

A little precision : it seems to me that your reef line don't run aft to cockpit, but is it the reality ?

Best regards

Thank you very much, Bob.

Can I ask you some precisions about your boat :

1) your main halyard run aft to cockpit, but how do you take a reef ?

2) I assume that your jib halyard run aft also to cockpit : is it true ?

Have a nice day

Hello, I had two little questions for you, about sail handling when you are alone. Raising the main without autopilot : I have read the "method" of Neil : coming head into the wind, put the engine in neutral and rise the main ; but how du you trim the mainsheet before ? Dropping a hanked j...

Thank you very much for yours clear explanations.

But can I ask you a little precision : what happen if the negative of the battery is NOT connected to the bonding circuit (for example, if the engne is fully isolated of the electric circuit) ?

Best Regards

Thank you for the information, Warren.

On the other hand, I know that others CD owners, as Neil Gordon, prefer to have halyard and reefing lines on the mast ; I assume that the advantage is the simplification of the deck layout ...

Hello,

Thank you very much for all yours answers.

It seems to me that the use of a jib downhaul (classic as Pardey or Gerr) is very more frequent in the USA that in the old Europe, I don't no why ...
