Here's what happened
OK, first of all new splash date is for Wednesday coming. Yahooo. To clarify: My solenoid is a bendix type and it is far easier to remove than the starter itself, as it sits right on top of it and and the nuts are facing you as you gaze into the dark recesses of the engine's lair. When all the wires...

voltage
John There's 12.8 volts at that nut (big nut at the end of the solenoid). Is this the nut you mean? I find this job daunting: can't get to it, so much piping in the way, though the forward end of solenoid is clearly visible and accessible. Can't really get to nuts of starter. Do I have to remove pip...

starter
John, thanks for your suggestions: After careful cleaning of electrical connections/terminals etc that produced only the spinning starter , I jumped ship Saturday discouraged when I discovered the starter spun as I switched the isolator to the start battery position. No need to depress the start but...

perkins 4 108 solenoid and starter
Disapensia will be missing her splash date, which was supposed to be the 27th of June. The Perkins' starter spins but the solenoid fails to slide the appropriate gear to turn the engine over. Gentle knocks with my wooden handled carpenter's hammer have failed to coax any engagement. A further sugges...

new garhauer install
just putting this out there FYI; it will be awhile before Diapensia is launched but the lines leading from main and staysail will remain in place as they are unless serious chaffing happens against the turning block below the port traveler wheel.... cd 28 mast replacement
A horrendous wind ripped through Easport April 17 toppling "Duet" off her stands destroying a spreader and the mast at the hinge and inflicting mortal damage to the rolller furler. Her former owner had just sold her and her new owner was due to sail her away to Nova Scotia just a few days ...
