Possibly interested
I may be interested. I am actually considering purchasing a Triad Trailer as well. Yes, quite an expensive ordeal. The pickup would be pretty close for you...Nanticoke, MD (just west of Salisbury, MD). The transport would be to Beaufort, SC (640 miles each way). The company that is relocating me has...

Thanks to all, great comments
I generally used Winthrop's method, I did notice a couple breaks but nothing at all what I expected. However, I am going to have the rigging replaced based on age alone. Thanks, everyone, for the lessons on standing rigging. The barber shop pole analogy and longevity rules of thumb were very helpful...

Orig '78 Standing rigging replacement?
I am considering replacing my standing rigging next fall, but want to be sure I am not wasting time and money. I am going to inspect my stays/shrouds this weekend, but an not sure what to look for. A 2003 survey did not comment (positive or negative) on the rigging. I have heard to use bronze wool t...

I nearly lost steerage
I'll yeild to you guys' experience. You, Will, and Didereaux have the resume to back it up and I just have few experiences where I simply should not have been out in the water in such poor conditions. I found myself partially loosing steerage in a bad Chesapeake storm (might not have been the motor ...

John Ring's CD25 History Website
Good luck to you and hope you see you on the board with a "new owner" announcement some day. BTW, go to http://www.yachttantalus.com/CD25%20History.htm to read and see the history of the CD25 as written by former owner John Ring, now owner of "Tantalus," a CD28. His old CD25 &quo...

halyards/wiring
Halyards are very simple. Assuming the mast is stepped, just take the old halyard and tape the new halyard to it (end to end). MAKE SURE you use a heavy tape and wrap it a few times. Wiring...I'll let you know this summer. From what I have heard, it can be tricky because portions of the wiring is bo...

Maybe, it depends.
Sorry Didereaux, but I cannot give a definitive yes. It depends on the conditions you will use it in. Fighting currents, 40+ kt storm conditions, and having to tow someone will demand more horses. 5hp will probably get you up to hull speed in normal conditions, no doubt, but I have found my 9.9 Hond...

Pulling through wiring...
Ray B. wrote: [use the old wires to send thru the new wires on both the mast and boat] I have heard that the wires between the mast and the electric panel are glued or glassed in place. Sure, pulling through is going to be my first stab at it, but I am not counting on it being so simple. Here is a q...

Where to overhaul CD25 #667 in Chesapeake?
I am planning on having Wind Song overhauled this summer and into the 2005-06 winter. Currently she is on the hard on the lower Eastern Shore of Maryland. Anyone have any suggestions on a reputable place that could do everything from awlgrip to replace her standing rigging? I am a weekend sail from ...

Yes, I am a wordy CD25_ Owner
Sorry to dissapoint those among you who appreciate short stories. No, Wind Song is not a CD25D. No, I don't have "D" envy.

Don't mean to bring back an old post, but...
Back in August of 2003, I bought CD25 #667 - Wind Song. On Labor Day Weekend, I decided to bring her home...from Newport News, VA to Nanticoke, MD. If you were in the Chesapeake Bay the night of August 30, 2003, you were wet. If you were sailing, you were stupid (me). Our shake-down cruise was more ...

Thanks for comments
I like the idea of hanging a line and using as a wick. Thanks DanaVin. I am going to give that a try, being that it is the least invasive. Wind Song is hull 667, 1978. So she has a bridgedeck. The minor sag I am experiencing is not too terrible. I did some searching and looked at a few pics of jacki...

Terminology is everything!
Thanks. In a way I am comforted that others have noticed the problem. It is good to not be alone. I like the jacking idea. fiberglass does have memory (I was an engineer for 8 years before lawschool). I think the key to jacking is spreading the load, as not to make it a point load. I'd like to see s...

water ponding on CD25 deck
Wow, high teck B-Board. Anyone else experiencing this...some standing water on the deck between the cabin and the toerail? There doesn't seem to be much (any) outboard camber here. I normally only get this on my starboard deck, probably just due to my misbalanced loading of gear. This cannot be good...
