Re: CD 22D Wanted

Hi,
Inua is still for sale. She has brand new running rigging, new sails, roller furling, her hull has been completely stripped and repainted. She has a 2009 trailer that is in very good condition. She has an outboard honda 9.9. Let us know if you are interested in her.

Transducer in the plastic shell that lines the Cape Dory

Outstanding Skippers. It is really educational when different perspectives and experiences are presented, because it allows such a wider range of learning. I have an idea of what to try and, without the insights, I would have made some mistakes! The second question needs some help though. My digital...

transducer in the plastic shell that lines inside cape dory

:?: I have studied the cape dory skipper's recommendations on mounting an inside the hull transducer; however, my CD 22 seems to have a plastic shell inside the boat. Does this mean that I need to cut a hole in the plastic to get the transducer through to the hull - I know the transducer has to be i...

Thanks Jack. I have just turned 64 and have not wanted to accept giving up hank-ons. You make sense, as everyone has. The input about the large relative main is well taken. the previous owner replaced the boom with a good non-rolling one, but never used any reefing- he was on a small lake. I think t...

It sees that my two best options are to either put a reef in the working jib, or use the Alado furling unit that we have. To make sure I have used the black box during my consideration, what do the Captains think about the Alado system. It was rated in, I think, "Practical Sailor," but I p...

Yeeha! Fantastic response from all of you! It is good to know the CD22 can go to the port holes and do fine in a pinch- new seals are here. We previously sailed a 23' cat-rig, fin-keeled Pearson and enjoyed it. We moved to a C&C 29.5, but learned that we preferred a smaller boat. We obtained a N...

Reply to recommendations regarding a smaller jib

The sailmaker, who made my sails, Haarstick, stated, "A Cape Dory 22, with two deep mainsail reefs and a 100% jib, does not need a smaller jib to be safe- and, it needs the 100% to give it drive because of the dynamics of the boat." I believe in Mr. Vigor's "black box" theory and...

Do we need a smaller jib?

Greetings! We have a CD 22 on the Eastern end of Lake Ontario. The fetch can be rather long and boisterous. We have a 100% and 150%hank ons and the mainsail has two deep reefs. ( New sails) If we end up getting caught in one of the unpredictable storms- yes, we take precautions with weather predicti...

Thank you Barfwinkle! One of the members recommended that I try rare earth magnets to discern the outline of the metal mast step pattern. My small rare earth magnets could not reliably pick up the edges. They may not have been strong enough to penetrate the cabin top. However, the idea is very good....

I have tried to send a reply, via the suggested post, unsuccessfully.
A copy of my answer was not revealed on that site.

I would be interested in your organizer, Barfwinkle, if you think it will fit my 1981 mast and plate.

I will try to get a picture, as suggested by Markst95, and post it. Gads, I have to depend upon my wife for that- she is the computer person- thank goodness.

Thank you Barfwinkle! You solved my problem regarding an organizer plate. I needed one. My concern is that after my swivel blocks are attached, I need to lead the lines aft to my clutch. How wide is the support base, that CD built into the forward cabin structure, under the mast. The mast/mast plate...

Where does the mast support structure end?

Hi, I am trying to add line organizers for the lines to the cockpit of our CD22. To do this, I need to use through bolts. My problem is that I am not sure about the actual structure of the mast support system. It appears that the mast tabernacle is resting upon a solid uplift. The manual states that...
