Re: Wish to buy a CD 22, CD 22D, or a Typhoon Senior

What a great picture. And so much good info on the first response to my posting! I am going to take another look at the Sea Sprite. There does seem to be a few more of those available. I will keep checking back here every day to see if a boat appears that might work for me. (Wish I lived in Maine!)

Wish to buy a CD 22, CD 22D, or a Typhoon Senior

Wish to buy a CD 22, CD 22D, or a Typhoon Senior. Having owned two Cape Dorys previously I an anxious to find a boat in the 22' length. I love the CD classic lines and find the CDs easy and satisfying to sail. Like the amount of wood trim and love varnishing. Your boat would be in good hands. Boat w...

Hauling a Ty with a crane

Does anybody use a small crane to lift a Typhoon out of the water? Do you use a cross beam brace (I don't know the terminology for such an item) to keep the topsides from crushing? If so, do you have any photographs you could email so I know what I should be building? For this fall, my first with a ...

Re: Wanted: Typhoon trailer

Yes, I would love a new Triad trailer but it is beyond my budget as I will only be using it as a yard trailer and will use a crane to lift the boat out of the water and onto the trailer. Fortunately I have a marina nearby with a travel lift and they will block the boat for me but would surely love t...

Desperately looking for a Typhoon trailer. Must have papers that indicate a builder and date of manufacture. No "homemade" designation. Please send a PM if you have any leads. All help appreciated.

Typhoon Trailer available but with no papers -LAST CALL

Is anyone interested in a very sound, perfectly maintained trailer that is caught in limbo due to bureaucratic nonsense? I bought this trailer a few weeks ago in good faith that I could import it to Canada. I can not because the title says homemade. I can't get new registration in NY because I am no...

Re: Homemade trailer warning

Yeah, the Canadians don't mind if you use a homemade trailer in Canada, you just can't bring one into the country. Protecting the jobs of those who make trailers perhaps? Just trying to aggravate sailors? Who knows.

Homemade trailer warning

I recently bought a Typhoon trailer in excellent condition. I was thrilled when I saw it in the flesh. Picked up the Ty I had bought in January in another state and headed home to Toronto, ON. When I got to the border I was turned back as a homemade trailer in not admissable to Canada unless the imp...

Re: seacock replacement

Interesting. My Ty is an '84 with no head and still has 2 seacocks. I would take care of it myself with new bronze if I had a choice but I live on an island and it has to go in the water in order to get it on home ground, hence my conundrum about two big holes in the hull. I think I will just have t...

seacock replacement

I have bought a Typhoon and the seacocks were frozen. I asked the seller to get them going again and to my consternation he drilled them out and threw the bronze originals away. Arghh. Now he wants to replace them with a contemporary non-bronze version. I have read warnings to stay away from plastic...
