Engine cost
Alex, at $1k, the Yanmar certainly might be worth buying. But there will be substantial labor involved -- either dozens of hours by you with a lot of specialized tools or by a yard mechanic to install either that engine or another when the time to repower comes. If you assume that labor and parts at...

High, but not super high labor costs
Just to clarify my prior post, the 2 YM 15 out of the box, including shipping and sales tax, was $7200. More praise for the CD 27
It's mostly been said by others, but the 27 is surely an excellent cruising boat for 2 people. Don't expect a lot more room in the cockpit, but gosh, when the wind pipes up Impromptu just puts her shoulder into the breeze and sea and powers on. If our Yanmar was bigger than 8 HP, it'd be perfect. Bu...

Shop towels
Last week I slept on the mooring just for laughs. Forgot the press, but did have ground coffee. After failing to create a Melitta out of an empty plastic water bottle with slits (too little detention time), I poured hot water through a few tablespoons of coffee lodged in a conical shaped shop towel....
