metal preventer

Yes. There is a preventer that tightens into the track. It is a metal cylinder about 1.5" long that fits underneath the last luff slider. It stays in place with a small thumb screw that tightens on the outside of the mast, holding it in the track. Sorry, I don't know what it is officially calle...

mast + trailer

I step the mast myself. Not too difficult. I just attach a longer line to the forestay while raising to hold it in place.
