I figured I'd give another opinion that it works beautifully
even on a boat hanging on its mooring!!!

how did it work?
did you try the A-frame method? it seems that if your mast doesn't have a hinge/tabernacle or isn't llight enough to just stand up like a dinghy's everybody hires a crane... aren't sailors usually very resourceful? I am considering trying the A-frame on my seafarer meridian---its a wood mast.....nee...

problem with gate valves!!!!
the problem is that if something gets into the valve (a stick, a rock, or anything) and you go to close the valve you won't be able to tell the valve is still open unless you count turns or something... could be a disaster! If it wasn't a trailer-sailed ty I would highly recomend changing them, but ...

returns
I've heard horror stories about their return policy:
http://www.defender.com/termsofsale.jsp
It doesn't seem aweful if you buy wisely, but...
I've shopped at their warehouse often and are usually great
be sure to check out their warehouse sale--I believe march 27-30
you'll do even better then

a long story (not made short)
who would have thought such a thurough answer already existed but to summarize: roller furling=wire luff sail rolls around itself roller reefing=aluminum foil sail rolls around, foam or rope padding in luff of sail to mantain some shape My 2cents: I agree whole hardily with the pardeys for serious c...

triad
they are certainly still in business and make incredible trailers from what I've seen... The trailer subject is a major contributor to my next boat thoughts in fall '07 they quoted ~3500 for a float of typhoon trailer (single axle) and ~6000 for a cd25(not D) float off tandem I wouldn't want to know...

Moorings
Where does anyone have private moorings in CT or RI?
Esp. where there isn't a wait list and well protected?
Or possibly a marina owning moorings with really good rates.
Also always looking for a CD25 at a reasonable price and/or a trailer for one.
thanks,
kevin
