Re: CD 36 Autopilot
Rich, you're correct, it is an Edson product, found it in their catalog.
how did you mount the fixed end of the ram?
I see how John did it but he used a Garmin unit.

Re: CD 36 Autopilot
Rich, do you know if the bracket attached to the shaft and alongside of the quadrant was custom made or not?
also, could you show me what the mounting bracket for the fixed end of the drive unit looks like?
Thanks,

CD 36 Autopilot
I am planning on replacing my wheel autopilot with a below deck unit.
I'm trying to figure out how to mount the linear ram unit to the boat and to the quadrant.
Has anyone done this?

Nova Scotia and Maine
I'll be leaving Fall River,MA tomorrow morning, Tuesday, July 31, 2012 for Halifax, Nova Scotia. Plan on arriving in Halifax on Friday. Spend the weekend there and then sail to Maine. Will be stopping at several coves and harbors in Maine. Would enjoy meeting up with Cape Dory Owners on the way. Bil...

To your original question, I sailed to Shelburne from Swansea, Massachusetts a couple of years ago in late July. Weather was fine, nice southerly wind, very little fog. The only thing to keep in mind in the water temp. When rounding P-Town, I called home and the temp was near 90 deg F. the next few ...

Navionics Charts
I'm looking for a Navionics "CLASIC" chart for Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Navionics has discontinued Clasic Charts for Canada so I'm looking for an older edition. I have a Furuno #1722 radar/chart ploter so I'm stuck.
Thanks,
Bill

The 2 seacocks in the port locker on a 36 are the most difficult to access. Not too many years ago, I could slip down the hatch and service them with little problem. Now, I'm unable to slide down from the cockpit. I even tried taking off my shirt but even grease on my chest didn't help. I now ask my...

Teak Guard
I have been using Teak Guard for the past few years, it holds up very well and looks nice. I put on 5 or 6 coats at first then 2 or 3 coats every season.

Windlass
Hi Mike,
Looking over old posts, sounds like Leo MacDonnald had a problem with Lewmar also.
What windlass are you looking at for the new boat?
How important do you think the "Free Fall" feature is?

Leo, I don't know of any free electronic Canadian charts. Since you know the chart numbers, I assume you have the catalogue of charts. You can also check the catalogue on line at www.charts.gc.ca. I have been getting my NS charts from Armchair Sailor in Newport, RI. I have to get some new charts for...
